(Anita, IA) – The #9 CAM girl’s basketball team fell to one of the best teams in the state on Monday night as #10 Woodbine took home a 57-52 victory. CAM’s defense helped to keep the Tigers down to just 26 points in the second half, but the offense couldn’t keep up the momentum as they only put down nine points in the third quarter. Head Coach Joe Wollum was looking for the offense to pick up, as they now have to get their offense rolling tonight.
CAM has been led in scoring by Eva Steffensen who has been averaging a double-double this season with 20.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She has not only helped to get better for herself but also for her teammates. Her drive and perseverance are just two reasons why this Cougars team has seen success, even after a tough loss.
Today, the Cougars are hosting their 14th Pink-Out Paws for a Cause event with a Silent Auction that features multiple items that have been donated by area businesses. The auction will start at 5:30 p.m. and end following the 3rd quarter of the boys’ game. All proceeds will go to multiple cancer research programs. Coach Wollum is expecting a big turnout for a great cause and also thanks the community for their amazing support all season long.
The Cougars will be taking on the Boyer Valley Bulldogs, a rematch from earlier this season when CAM won 66-41 on the road. Boyer Valley is led in scoring by Sylvia Sullivan who averages 8.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season. Despite winning earlier this season, CAM is going into this game just like any other, as if they were taking on the best team in the state of Iowa.
CAM will tipoff against Boyer Valley tonight at 6:00 p.m. KSOM 96.5 will be live with Zach Collins and Austin West on the call, with the pregame show at 5:45 p.m. and a video live-stream on Western Iowa Today TV.
