(Harlan, IA) – Coming out of the break, the Harlan Cyclones earned their fourth straight win after beating St. Albert 69-65. The Cyclones continue to keep going with their momentum that hopefully will continue to carry them throughout the month of January.
Every team is looking for minor improvements in January. Harlan’s main focus is taking care of the basketball while utilizing other players on the floor, including Quinn Koesters. The senior is averaging 5.6 points and 2.1 assists per game this season and has stepped into a tough role as the primary point guard after Brehden Eggerss went out with an injury. The Cyclones have also been put into good positions this season from the play by Cade Sears and Jason Erlemeier who have been pivotal in the Cyclone’s offense.
Head Coach Mitch Osborn realizes that his offense has struggled with controlling the basketball, especially when it comes to the press. Over the break and this week, the Cyclones have been working on the press break to help neutralize that problem on the offensive end and protect the basketball.
Harlan has one of their toughest games coming up this week against an Atlantic team that may not show it in their record but has been very physical and tough to play down the stretch of games this season. The Trojans are led by Colton Rasmussen in scoring with 26.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game this season among many other Trojans who have been impactful, to say the least.
The Cyclones will take on Atlantic in their next matchup in Hawkeye Ten action that will be broadcast on KS95.7 with Tom Robinson on the call.
