(Glenwood) Glenwood rolled off a 13-3 run late in the fourth quarter to defeat Atlantic 68-58 in a boy’s basketball game on Tuesday at Atlantic.
Three players scored in double figures for the Rams. Casey Godbout, averaging 11 points per game heading into the contest, finished the night with 22 points to lead the Rams. Kayden Anderson scored 20, and Jack Johnson chipped in 10. Ayden Gibson and Drew Schroeder scored seven, and Adam Severn pitched in two.
Colton Rasmussen led Atlantic with 32 points and is 21 points away from the 1,000-point career mark. Gavin McLaren scored 14 points, Nolan Waters, 8, and Brock Henderson added 4.
The Rams jumped out to a 6-0 lead off the start. The Trojans tied the game 12-12; however, the Rams polished off the quarter on a 9-1 run to lead 21-13 at the end of the first quarter. Jack Johnson came off the bench and sparked the offense with six points.
The Trojans played toe-to-toe with the Rams in the second quarter, opening with a 7-0 run and closing the gap to 27-25. Glenwood outscored the Trojans 8-5 down the stretch and led 35-30 at the break.
Atlantic raced to a 6-0 run to start the third quarter, grabbing a 36-35 lead, and it was game-on after that with six lead changes. Glenwood finished the frame on a 5-0 run and a 48-44 advantage heading into the final eight minutes.
Glenwood broke a 55-55 tie midway through the final quarter on a 13-3 run with pin-point shooting from the free throw line, making eight of nine attempts. Casey Godbout went 4-4, and Kayden Anderson went 3-3 at the charity strip to seal the deal.
Glenwood breaks a two-game skid with the win and heads into Friday’s game at home against Shenandoah with a 5-4 record. The Trojans, now 3-8, travel to Kuemper, Catholic, Carroll.
