(Harlan) Prairie Rose State Park will take part in the annual nationwide First Day’s Hike. On January 1st, hikes will take place across the United States. Prairie Rose will host their hike on January 1st at 10:00 a.m. Naturalist Christina Roelofs told KSOM that hikers should meet at the park office, and to expect a 2 mile relatively easy hike, with just a couple hills, on the east side of Prairie Rose Lake. The hike is expected to take about an hour. Following the hike, all attendees will receive popcorn and hot cocoa from the Friends of Prairie Rose State Park. Roelofs reminds attendees to dress for the weather, and that layers are highly recommended.
Prairie Rose Park is located at 680 Rd M47 in Harlan, Iowa. For any questions, please reach out to Christina Roelofs at 712-744-3403.
