(Area) With the two shotgun seasons now in the books, Iowa’s deer hunting shifts to the opening of the late muzzleloader season and the reopening of the archery season.
Bryan Hayes, with the DNR Office in Lewis, said more than 90,000 deer have been harvested so far this year. Last year, 110,000 deer were harvested across the state.
The late muzzleloader season and late split archery seasons closes January 10th.
Hayes said to close out the deer hunting, there are two January antlerless-only deer seasons.
Hayes said Adair, Adams, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union counties still have tags remaining.
