(Red Oak) A Montgomery County man was air-lifted to a trauma center after the dry floater he was driving fell through a bridge.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened at 9:22 on Friday morning northwest of Stanton. Authorities say 53-year-old Clint A. Means of Villisca suffered serious injuries in the crash. Means is reportedly in serious but stable condition.
According to the report, Means operated a John Deere F4365 dry floater that fell through a bridge over the Tarkio River, trapping him inside. The floater ended up on its side in the river facing west. Means was extricated from the operator’s station of the equipment.
New Cooperative owns the John Deer, and the damage is estimated at $75,000. The bridge owned by Darren R. Barkman of Stanton sustained an estimated $150,000 in damage.
Authorities notified the DNR of the need to minimize the environmental impact of the fertilizer and diesel fuel spilling into the Tarkio River.
