(Undated) Nearly 60 more Iowa churches are leaving the United Methodist Church over its new LGBTQ+ policy.
The Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church has approved the disaffiliation of the churches. More than 80 other Iowa churches left in the spring. The new policy allows gay clergy to serve and ministers to perform same-sex marriages.
The churches leaving say they welcome LGBTQ+ persons to worship but will continue to follow traditional and more conservative views of one-man, one-woman marriage.
