(Iowa City, IA) – The Iowa Hawkeyes came off their last loss to Creighton and came out on Friday night with a bang, winning over Arkansas State 88-74. Iowa led by 10 at the half and was never in question on who was going to win in the second half.
The Hawkeyes shot 46% from the field but put up just 16.7% from the three-point marker. Ben Krikke led the team in scoring with 25 points and nine rebounds with four steals in the game, as he was just short of a double-double. Dasonte Bowen was right behind Krikke with 17 points as he shot 9-10 from the field and had two assists. Tony Perkins also had double-digits with 11 and had six rebounds. Patrick McCaffery and Josh Dix finished off in double-digit scoring with 10 points apiece. On the opposite side of Arkansas State, Freddy Hicks led in scoring with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Taryn Todd was right behind him with 16 points and six rebounds. Caleb Fields and Derrian Ford finished off scoring with 14 and 11 points respectively.
Iowa has now won the last 86 of their 92 nonconference home games, a stat that dates back to 2012. Iowa is currently leading the series over the Red Wolves 2-0 in a series that dates back to 1985 in their first-ever matchup. The Hawkeyes are also now 11-3 when taking on opponents from the Sun Belt Conference.
