(Washington, D.C.) — Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley is praising the Biden-Harris Administration’s actions this week requiring nursing homes to disclose their ownership. It comes after over fifteen years of effort, including a law passed in 2010.
He says the ruling will also make it easier for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to catch instances of fraud waste and abuse. CMS issued the final ruling this week, part of which requires nursing homes taking money from Medicare or Medicaid to disclose entities that exercise financial control over the facility, such as who manages the finances. The ruling is in response to provisions included in the Affordable Care Act in 2010.
