(Atlantic) The Atlantic Trojan girls’ basketball team is wrapping up preseason practice this week ahead of Friday’s game at Pella. One year ago, the Trojans finished as Tri-Hawkeye Ten Conference champions with an 8-2 record and 18-5 overall.
Coach Vargason admits many talented players graduated from last year’s team. Vargason says this year’s team has a lot of players that are ready to step up.
Coach Vargason touts several others he expects to lead this team.
Coach Vargason expects Avery Knuth to provide some quality minutes, and Belle Berg is out after taking one year off.
Vargason expects big things from underclassmen Lila Wiederstein, Katrina Williams, Zoey Kirchhoff, Makenna Schroeder, and Addie Fruend.
Coach Vargason is pleased with the effort and attitude of this year’s squad throughout the first two weeks of practice. He believes this is the hardest working group he has coached to date.
The Trojans travel to Pella on Friday night. The tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
