(Fort Dodge, IA) – Lake Mills wins the boy’s cross-country Class 1A state championship invite with a total of 111 points. Lake Mills featured the sixth-placed runner Justin Rygh at 16:14.9. The first-place runner was Landon Bendgen of Woodbine at 15:55.3. In second was Emerson Vokes at 16:02.5 and in third was Aidan Shannon at 16:09.3 of Wapsie Valley Fairbank. Local athlete Andrew Mahaffey of ACGC finished fourth at 16:10.1. Lincoln Bainbridge finished fifth for Van Buren County at 16:13.0, while Matthew Schaul finished at 16:16.8 for Maquoeta Valley Delhi in seventh. Clay Warson finished in eighth at 16:25.1 for Madrid and following just .5 seconds behind was Gage Heyne in ninth at 16:25.6 for English Valleys North English. Last but not least in the top ten was Brady McWhirter in 10th at 16:26.5.
The local runners include ACGC’s Lance Bunde in 33rd at 17:12.9, Gavin Sloss in 39th at 17:21.9, Noah Kading in 63rd at 17:50.0, Tate Fever in 76th at 18:02.2, Bo Arrasmith at 18:12.5 in 88th, and Preston Kent in 93rd at 18:18.1. Earlham featured the 40th placed-runner at 17:22.2, the 68th runner David Nichols at 17:55.1, Caron Maly at 17:55.9 in 70th, Blake Tiemeyer in 73rd at 18:01.1, Cooper Michael in 121st, and Blake Petersen in 131st. Riverside had the 41st placed runner Brody Henderson at 17:23.3 and Mason McCready in 47th at 17:31.4. Tri-Center runner Brennan Boden finished in 48th at 17:33.8.
