(Coon Rapids, IA) – Coon Rapids-Bayard is looking to get back on track after last week’s district loss to Glidden-Ralston as they fell 24-6. The Crusaders are looking to stop beating themselves in the mental game, eliminate penalties, and stick to their defensive assignments this week.
Coon-Rapids Bayard may be just 2-5 this season, but there is still a chance for the Crusaders as they need to beat Colo-Nesco tonight. They also need Boyer Valley to win over Ar-We-Va and Riceville to beat Turkey Valley for Coon-Rapids to make it past tonight.
The defensive line has been one thing that head coach Chris Mohr has been proud of all season due to their consistency and their ability to flow to the ball. Wyatt Oswald leads the defense overall with 60 tackles this season and has also earned one sack. When the defense is successful, the team follows the rest of the way.
Tonight is the last home game of the season for Coon Rapids-Bayard and they are looking to finish the season on a good note. With it being senior night and the stakes being so high, the Crusaders have a chance to make a name for themselves tonight.
Every week is a week to get better, but the Crusaders will have to show what they have learned all season long as it comes down to the wire tonight. Wyatt Oswald will have to step up this week as the junior has thrown for 707 yards this season and ten touchdowns. The Crusaders are led by Oswald in the running game as well as he has rushed for 447 yards and earned three touchdowns. They will have to play up to par tonight against a good Colo-Nesco team.
Coon Rapids-Bayard hosts Colo-Nesco tonight with a kickoff at 7:00 p.m. for their senior night.
