(Griswold, IA) – The Griswold Tigers are still eyeing their first win this season, but are in a much better spot now than earlier this year. Head coach Seth Lembke has seen improvements in the passing and run games on offense but would like to see more intensity on the defensive end.
Griswold has been continuing to work on being more physical in practice this week. The Tigers need to make more contact to compete and get to that next level.
One reason for the Tigers not succeeding this season has been that they have not had a leader step up. Zane Johnson has seen spurts on the defensive end as he has been good defensive numbers but has not fully adapted to the leadership role. The Tigers also have been looking for more consistency as they gave up big drives last week to East Mills.
The Tigers will be taking on West Harrison this week as the Hawkeyes are coming off a 66-6 loss to Woodbine last Friday. West Harrison likes to put the ball in the air as the Hawkeye’s Mason McIntosh has 1,238 passing yards this season. Griswold is looking for the Hawkeyes to incorporate the running game in their offensive strategy this week, but the Tigers also look to pile up in the secondary.
Griswold hosts West Harrison in a district matchup with a kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
