(Pottawattamie Co) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors this morning approved a funding request from East Pottawattamie County Soil & Water Conservation District for dry hydrants.
Kami Willett, Chair of East Pottawattamie County Soil and Water Conservation District, said they currently have five dry hydrants and their goal is to put in 10 more on the east side of the county.
Supervisor Tim Wichman asked Willett approximately how much time could be saved if firefighters could go to a dry hydrant.
Willett said they have six landowners who have already agreed to give up some of their real estate close to a hard surface road to put in these dry hydrants.
The Supervisors approved a request of $75,000 out of the gaming fund.
