(Polk County, IA) — Polk County Attorney Kimberly Graham says a Johnston man used reasonable force, in a shooting that resulted in a man’s death. Police finished an investigation into the shooting, and Graham has determined that Dalton Meier was trying to protect him and others May 9th. Police were called to an apartment complex that night and found 62-year-old Steve Miller with multiple gunshot wounds. Miller died at the hospital. Investigators say before the gunfire, Miller was being aggressive and attacked another man with a knife and chased others. Meier pleaded with Miller to stop, but instead Miller charged at Meier who shot him.
