(Des Moines) The National Weather Service extended the Excessive Heat Warning until 7:00 p.m. for the southwest Iowa counties south of Interstate 80.
Forecasters say dangerous conditions will continue, with heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees possible.
A cold front is forecast to move through the region this weekend, dropping temperatures to the upper 50s for lows and lower 80s for highs.
