(Adams County) – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reported five arrests and one incident.
*The Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call that five juveniles were missing from a kayaking trip on the East Nodaway River around approximately 6:30 p.m. on August 14th. Deputies were able to locate the five juveniles walking in a bean field approximately two miles east of Brooks, Iowa. The juveniles stated that they were kayaking in front of two adults and one juvenile on the river. The five juveniles then stopped on the river, while they waited for the adults to catch up. The adults never showed up after the juveniles waited for approximately four hours. The adults dialed 911 when they found the juvenile’s kayaks empty along the riverbank. All five were treated by the Adams County Ambulance and were released to their family. At approximately 9:36 p.m., the Adams County Sheriff’s office received a second call stating that two adults and one juvenile were still on the river approximately 1.5 miles East of Brooks. One caller stated that one adult male was experiencing medical issues and needed immediate attention. The three remaining subjects were located safely, and one adult male was transported to CHI Health Mercy in Corning. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Corning Fire Department, Prescott Fire and Rescue, and the Adams County Ambulance for their assistance.
*Deputies conducted a traffic stop in rural Adams County on August 8th at 11:00 p.m. where, upon investigation, 48-year-old Cherokie Davis of Corning was arrested and charged with an OWI 1st Offense. Davis was booked into the Adams County Jail where she posted bond.
*Deputies conducted a routine traffic stop on Highway 34 and Sycamore Ave. on August 6th. Upon investigation, 31-year-old Shanda Kile of Creston was arrested and charged with Driving While Suspended. She was taken to the Adams County Jail where she was released after posting bond.
*On August 12th, Deputies conducted a traffic stop when upon investigation of the driver, Christopher Draman of Lenox was arrested and charged with Driving While Suspended. Draman was released on a promise to appear in court.
*A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested on August 12th at 1:30 a.m. and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
*Deputies arrested Angela Marie Nicholson of Corning on August 22nd at 5:30 p.m. on an active warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Probation Violation. Nicholson was taken to the Adams County jail where she posed a $300.00 cash bond.
