(Atlantic) Three people have been charged in connection with a robbery in Atlantic.
The Atlantic Police Department says at approximately 4:58 p.m. on August 18th they were notified by the Cass County Communications Center of a robbery that had occurred at 1508 Ash Street. During the investigation, contact was made with the victim and enough information was obtained for a description of the suspects and a vehicle that they had left in. Soon after the report was taken, an Atlantic Officer located a vehicle and suspects matching the description at a residence in Atlantic. All three subjects were subsequently detained for further investigation.
Part of the investigation included a search warrant that was executed at 404 Olive Street in Atlantic. The search warrant resulted in location of a firearm that was suspected to have been used in the robbery. Subsequent to the search warrant and investigation, 22-year-old Rey Moton, of Exira, was taken into custody and charged with Dominion/Control of a Firearm or Offensive Weapon by a Felon, Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) 1st Offense and Theft 5th Degree. Moton was booked and held on $50,000 bond. Two additional 17-year-old males, Kyle Looper and Xavier Prine of Exira, were taken into custody and have been charged as adults. Both were charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree and Theft 5th. They were transported to juvenile detention in Council Bluffs.
The Atlantic Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
