(Bloomfield) Bloomfield Police Officer placed on Paid Critical Incident Leave Pending an Investigation into a Traffic Stop.
Bloomfield Police officers received a report of an erratic driver on Wednesday, July 26th around 9:25 pm. Bloomfield Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop around 9:32 pm. During the traffic investigation, an individual who was not in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop arrived at the scene. During the investigation, the officer discharged his duty weapon and struck one subject. That individual was provided medical care and is currently being treated at a hospital. The officer was also treated and released for injuries sustained during the incident
The Bloomfield Police Department requested the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s assistance to investigate the incident. At this time, the officer has been placed on paid critical incident leave pending the investigation.
