(Pottawattamie Co) Brenda Mainwaring, President and CEO of the Iowa West Foundation, provided an update on grant award cycle two to the Board of Supervisors this morning.
Mainwaring said last week the Board approved the cycle two grants and there were three primary areas they looked at this grant cycle.
Secondly, Mainwaring said they have moved away from a scholarship program toward something that is more focused on workforce development for all of the county districts.
Mainwaring said the last area of focus is regional housing.
She also noted that they are creating a position where someone can go out with the police department and deal with some of the psychological and mental health needs that the police are not necessarily prepared to deal with.
Mainwaring said they are also really focused on food bank services in the county as a whole and they are providing support to Golden Hills RC&D so they can continue to expand on the things they want to look at.
