(Creston) Southwestern Community College Officials announced on its Facebook Page a candlelight and service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, for two student-athletes that died in a two-vehicle accident on Friday night in Union County. The service honoring the two students will be held at 8:15 p.m. at the softball field, with a candlelight service.
Halsie Lynn Barnes of Tingley, 19, and 19-year-old Ella Jo Leonard, of Winterset, lost their lives in the two-vehicle crash. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened around 10:28 p.m. on Highway 34, and 190th Street, near Afton. Both were passengers.
A grief and counseling gathering session in the Instructional Center, room 180, will be held today from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
