(Marne) Marne and Atlantic Fire Departments responded to a call of smoke in the building at the Derailed Bar and Grill late Sunday afternoon.
Marne Fire Chief Josh Krause tells KSOM/KS95 News the call went out around 5:30 p.m. “A poorly discarded cigarette charred a boarded-up window upstairs. When the vent fan in the kitchen was turned on, it filled the downstairs restaurant and bar with smoke,” said Chief Krause. “Some people on site ran up the stairs and doused the charred boards with a fire extinguisher before we arrived. We investigated to ensure the fire hadn’t spread anywhere else in the building.”
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon assisted the Marne and Atlantic Fire Departments at the scene.
Krause says there is no damage to the building.
