(Avoca) The Pottawattamie County Fair kicks off Wednesday, July 19th in Avoca.
The country fair was established in 1896, and starts off on Wednesday with 4-H static judging at 8 a.m.
On Thursday July 20th, the day begins with open class entries drop off between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The 4-H/FFA poultry show takes place at 9:00 a.m. and the 4-H/FFA livestock judging contest to follow at 10:00 a.m. There are no events until open class judging at 4:00 p.m. and a vendor food truck night from 5:00-8:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. the pre fair awards and queen coronation will take place, and free dj/karaoke event at the grandstand area at 7:00 p.m.
On Friday July 21st, the day kicks off with the 4-H/FFA goat show and sheep show at 8:00 a.m. At 1:00 p.m., the 4-H/FFA rabbit show and small pet show take place, with the 4-H/FFA dog show at 2:00 p.m. The 4-H/FFA club volleyball tourney is at 4:00 p.m., beef fitting clinic by the Danker Family at 5:00 p.m., and a Free Grandstand event for Finding Dixie Band at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 22 starts with the 4-H/FFA Beef show starts at 9:00 a.m. and side by side races at the Grandstand at 1:00 p.m. Fair Olympics hosted by CYC takes place at 2:00 p.m. and the day finishes off with the Wirma Mud Truck Races at the Grandstand at 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday, July 23rd the 4-H/FFA swine show begins at 7:00 a.m. and the cornhole tournament starts at 1:00 p.m. The final Grandstand event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with Truck and Tractor pulls. The fair ends on Monday, July 24th with the 9:00 a.m. premium auction.
