(Council Bluffs) The Council Bluffs Police Department is investigating a pickup vs semi accident.
At 3:04 a.m. today (Saturday), officers were dispatched to the 5-mile marker in reference to a semi on fire. When officers arrived on the scene, they learned from witnesses that a pickup was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes. The pickup then collided with the semi head-on, causing both vehicles to catch on fire. At the time of the press release (6:30 a.m.), I-80 westbound is closed and will remain closed until the Council Bluffs Special Operations Traffic Investigators have completed their investigation.
The driver of the semi was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
