(Atlantic) Erich and Tammy Wickman of Wickman Chemical are hosting the seventh annual “Top Shot Cass County” competition, which is currently underway. The proceeds from this annual event all go to the Atlantic Police Department and Police Reserves Children’s programs.
Erich Wickman’s event started as a charity shooting competition between the Atlantic Police Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and invited the public to compete. This past year, the event raised over $10,000 for the Police Departments Children’s programs.
Atlantic Police Chief Devin Hogue says the charity shoot significantly boosts these children’s programs.
Cass County Sheriff Darby McLaren commends the Atlantic Police Department and Reserves for running these programs for the kids.
Erich Wickman donates his time, the shooting range, and clay pigeons for people to shoot three rounds for $20.00 per person. The competitors must win all three sets to win “Top Shot Cass County.”
Wickman has added an event called the Texas Star, which is ten targets, ten shots, lever, or bolt action only, iron sites, and no optics, offhand, in less than one minute, for $10.00 per person. The winner receives a Henry Action 22 Magnum rifle. The winner of “Top Shot” receives a 410-lever action rifle.
The competition runs Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 p.m. until dark through August 4. The competition opens again on Monday, August 20 through August 26, Monday through Friday, from 5:30 until dark, and Saturday, August 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
