(Council Bluffs) A Cass County man was sentenced on Tuesday for conspiring to distribute fentanyl, causing serious bodily injury or death.
The U.S. Southern District of Iowa reported that 19-year-old Mason Blaine Loudermilk was sentenced in U.S. District Court, to 16 years in prison, along with a six-year term of supervised release after he serves his time in prison.
Loudermilk pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance in October 2022. During an investigation between August 2020 and May 2022, Loudermilk obtained fentanyl, in pill form, from a source in Omaha. Loudermilk distributed the pills containing fentanyl in and around Cass County, leading to several fentanyl overdoses; each case required medical attention. Loudermilk is one of five Cass County residents arrested in June 2022 for Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl.
Agencies involved in the case were; the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Atlantic Police Department, Cass County (Iowa) Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Southwest Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force (SWINE), Council Bluffs Police Department, Iowa Division of Intelligence, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Crime Lab, Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Omaha Police Department.
