(Lewis) DNR Fisheries Biologist Bryan Hayes says it is time to pack the gear and head to your favorite fishing spot.
Hayes says the DNR has begun its annual electro-fishing surveys and sees male bluegills guarding nests, a few crappies guarding nests, and largemouth bass along the shoreline.
Hayes says Lake Anita, Prairie Rose, and Little Field Lake have good bluegill populations. He says Viking Lake has an improved bluegill population and 12-mile and three-mile lakes near Creston. Crappie spawning is now starting in Lake Rathbun near Centerville.
