KSOM/KS95 Radio Exclusive Story
(Council Bluffs) The State vs. Alison Dorsey trial continued on Wednesday at the Pottawattamie Courthouse in Council Bluffs. Dorsey is on trial for the death of an infant during her care on October 7, 2019.
The State called Dr. Sandra Allbery to the stand on Wednesday morning. Allbery is a Pediatric Radiologist at Children’s Hospital in Omaha with 29 years of experience. A Pediatric Radiologist is a Specialized Doctor that looks at various imaging tests on a patient and interprets Cat Scans, MRIs, Ultrasounds, and X-rays. Dr. Allbery received a trauma page on the afternoon of October 7, 2019, of an acutely ill patient coming to Children’s Hospital in Omaha. That child was Luka Hodges, who was unresponsive and un-breathing at the private daycare at 408 Pine Street in Massena. Dr. Allbery was involved in Luka Hodges’ analysis on October 7, 2019.
Dr. Allbery told the Jury she received the initial CT Scans of the brain taken at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.
Dr. Allbery described Luka’s brain injury as an acceleration-deceleration type of injury. She says this is not an injury caused by a short-distance fall.
During cross-examination, Defense Attorney Mark Edward Munger asked Allbery about the CT Scan initially taken at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.
Munger continued with this follow-up.

On Wednesday, Prosecuting Attorney Monty Platz called his final witness to the stand, Dr. Suzanne Haney, a Child Abuse Pediatrician at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Omaha.
Dr. Haney was involved in the consultation and examination of Luka Hodges on October 7, 2019.
Platz questioned Dr. Haney about the possibility that Luka’s brain injury had occurred several days before and was functionally normal.
During cross-examination, defense attorney Mark Edward Munger questioned Dr. Haney about the images sent from the outside Hospital the day Luka was transferred to Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, indicating a skull fracture and liver laceration.
Munger asked Dr. Haney of Luka’s subdural Hematoma could have been caused by an aneurysm.
Munger questioned Dr. Haney about case studies showing shortfalls causing subdural Hematomas.
Testimony starts at 9:00 a.m. The State is expected to call its last witness this morning. The defense is expected to argue its case at 1:00 p.m.
