(Oakland) On the schedule for Riverside boys track on Thursday is the Griswold Co-Ed Meet.
The Bulldogs are coming off of a 5th place finish on Monday at Woodbine. “The team score didn’t really play out the way I was hoping. I wrote up a little different meet plan and moves some things around. We had a pretty strong showing as a team, but the points don’t really show that.
Coach Alex Oliver’s team is nearing the stretch run with the conference meet scheduled for Tuesday and state qualifying the following week. “The goal is to line up as many points as possible and get as many events to the blue oval as we can. I have to find the right mixture for our meet load to get the most out of them, but not run them into the ground.”
Ayden Salais was one of the big bright spots at Woodbine. Salais anchored wins in the 4X400, Sprint Medley, and meet record setting Distance Medley. Other three event winners on Monday were Mason McCready and Grady Jeppesen. Salais has the 5th fastest time in Class 1A this season for the 400 meter dash in 50.76.
