(Washington D.C.) U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg appearing in front of farm broadcasters this past week in Washington, D.C., provided an update on the Infrastructure bill.
Buttigieg says while this bill has provided some exciting times for transportation, it has also been simultaneously one of the most challenging periods for transportation.
Buttigieg says the infrastructure plan has outsized stakes for rural America, where many disinvestments have been most severe, issues around supply chains have been felt most acutely, and where Americans are most suspectable to the ups and downs of gas and diesel prices.
Buttigieg says almost weekly, they announce at least one of the programs launched with this bill. On Friday, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration opened applications for the first round of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law promoting resilient operations for transformative, efficient, and cost-saving discretionary transportation grant programs.
