(Council Bluffs) The Pottawattamie County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Office released a statement on Wednesday evening stating the fire along the Missouri River continued to burn into the evening hours on Wednesday. Officials said there is no immediate threat to persons or property near or adjacent to the fire.
Fire crews spent Wednesday securing and containing the fire to allow it to burn overnight. The amount of heavy tree debris left by the 2019 floods and other vegetation poses more of a risk of being extinguished and creating numerous rekindles.
A wildland fire crew remained at the scene last night.
