(Atlantic) A new program through Iowa Pork is allowing donations throughout the state to local food pantries.
Karen Dreager with the Cass County Pork Producers spoke with KSOM/KS95.7 New while picking up the meat. “We have purchased $1,000 worth of pork loins that will be distributed between the four food pantries in Cass County.”
Dreager is glad to be able to make an impact. “I think it’s terrific. There are so many people that are worse off than we are and if we can help them that’s a little better.”
Cathie Alff spoke on behalf of the Anita Food Pantry. “We are so thankful they are giving us this meat. We have so many people that need food. I’m so glad we get to give it to children that don’t have food.” Alff says a meat donation is especially valuable as kids need it to grow.
