(Atlantic) The Cass County Board of Supervisors this morning approved compensation for elected officials.
The Compensation Board’s recommendation was a 10-percent increase for elected officials and 13.5-percent for the Sheriff. Supervisor Steve Green recommended reducing that 40-percent. He said they would like to give their employees every dime they can, but when they put the numbers together from the compensation board, it’s just not affordable to the taxpayer.
After some discussion, the Supervisors approved a six-percent increase for elected officials and 8.1-percent increase for the Sheriff. Supervisor Wendy Richter cast the lone nay vote as she felt the compensation increase should be a bit lower.
In other news, the Supervisors approved vacating the road right-of-way for Willow Lane. The roadway into the old Willow Heights facility will no longer be considered a public road, it will now be a private driveway.
