(Des Moines, IA) — Iowa property owners are being urged to get their oak tree trimming done soon if they want to help in the ongoing battle against widespread Iowa Oak Wilt. As spring approaches, Iowa D-N-R officials say the growing season means more fungus spores will be spreading destructive Oak Wilt among Iowa’s red, black, and pin oak trees. You’re urged to complete all pruning as soon as possible. It’s also strongly recommended you use acrylic paint to seal up the wounds from pruning.
