(Des Moines) The National Weather Service’s latest spring flood outlook shows an above-normal risk for flooding along the Missouri River downstream from Council Bluffs.
Jeff Zogg, Hydrologist with the National Weather in Des Moines, says the Mississippi’s flood risk differs from the Missouri River. The probability of significant flooding on the Mississippi has increased, like in 2019.
Zogg notes future weather, especially the weather conditions leading up to during and immediately after the snowmelt period, can play a significant factor in any spring flood threat.
