(Atlantic) The Atlantic Park and Recreation Board is meeting today at noon to discuss a recommendation to the City Council to place an increase in the Hotel/Motel Tax from four percent to seven percent on the November ballot.
The Board discussed the issue of raising the tax from four percent to seven percent at the February 20th meeting. Four people spoke against the increase. Ashley Hayes spoke in favor of the increase. A motion to recommend an increase in Atlantic’s Hotel/Motel Tax died due to a lack of a second.
In other business, the Parks and Recreation Board of Directors will discuss creating an informational brochure for the hotel/motel tax and a brochure for the proposed splash pad.
The Board will also vote on the Figgins family’s request to install memorial benches along the Bull Creek Pathway.
The meeting starts at noon in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
