(Atlantic) This past week the Iowa House passed House File 256 which removes the requirement that teachers must be 21 years of age before obtaining their teaching license. Iowa House District #18 Representative Tom Moore of Griswold introduced the bill.
Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says many of their juniors and seniors attend concurrent classes and leave high school with college credits.
Barber says the House File 256 makes great sense for students wanting to pursue a teaching career.
House File 256 removes the age requirements, allowing school districts to hire, at their discretion, teachers that fit their needs and expectations and are afforded the many support resources the school offers.
