(Atlantic) Four players scored double-figures to lead Atlantic over Denison-Schleswig 56-18 in a girls’ basketball game on Friday night at Atlantic.
“Our defense continues to play fantastic, and tonight our offense played well,” said Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason.
Paytn Harter led the Trojans with 20 points, Aubrey Guyer, 11, Jada Jensen, 10, and Maddie Huddleson finished with 10 points. Maddie Richter added three, and Keira Olson chipped in two.
The Trojans led 17-5 after one quarter and 37-7 at the Half. Post-Forward Paytn Harter scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half.
“We did not shoot as many three–point shots and did a much better job getting the ball inside,” said Vargason. “If teams play zone against us, we must learn how to break it down.”
The Monarchs played even with the Trojans in the third quarter with 11 points but were held scoreless in the final frame resulting in the 56-18 final.
Olivia Meyer led the visitors with seven points, Kiana Schulz, 6, Kaitlyn Bruhn, 2, and Mya Slater chipped in one.
#15 Atlantic extends its record to 16-4 and 7-2 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference. The Monarchs fall to 3-15 on the season.
