(Audubon) Audubon County’s compensation board met this week.
Supervisor’s Chairman Doug Sorensen says last year they came up with a formula to apply. “It’s basically an average of all the counties around us and what their compensation was last year plus they use five counties of similar population to Audubon County. They take an average of those numbers and see how we compare and then they applied an inflation factor or a cost of living increase to that.”
Sorensen says the formula worked well last year. “It kind of got us a little bit more in line with surrounding counties, but not really catching up with them because everyone else has higher population. This year they applied the same formula and the adjustments in salaries are fairly minimal with the exception of the Sheriff.”
The cost of living increase was 8.7%.
