(Atlantic) Atlantic City Administer John Lund reported to the City Council his focus is on the budget, intending to have some concrete numbers to work with next month. Lund says the recent rhetoric coming out of the Iowa Legislature does not appear positive for rural cities in Iowa.
Atlantic Mayor Grace Garrett says it will be necessary for the City Council to make a trip to Des Moines lawmakers convene in January. She says it is essential to get to know the decision-makers at the State Capitol and plead their case for the City.
Mayor Garrett says it will be necessary for the City Council to communicate with the State Lawmakers, so the City can continue to thrive without potentially losing income and raising property taxes.
The Iowa legislature gavels in on January 9.
