(Atlantic) Many residents will turn to alternative heat sources to supplement furnaces during the extreme cold temperatures forecast for the rest of the week and maybe beyond. Space heaters are often used to warm drafty places, and while space heaters can be helpful, they can also be dangerous.
Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel. He says to ensure the plug-in is grounded and shut off when leaving home.
Chief Cappel says not to use any fuel-based supplemental heaters.
Tom Cappel says house receptacles must be appropriately grounded, so the space heater will automatically shut off if something goes wrong.
