(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley picked up a huge girls basketball victory at home on Thursday night. The Wolverines led by double figures most of the night in their 68-52 win against 8th ranked Martensdale-St. Marys.
Lindsey Davis scored 25 points, Jorja Holliday 18, and Annika Nelson 10 to lead the Wolverines. Martensdale-St. Marys scored first on a pair of free-throws, but the home squad went on a 6-0 run an never trailed again. Holliday scored 10 first half point to get Nodaway Valley off to a quick start. They led 18-8 after one quarter, 32-24 at half, 53-40 through three.
The Wolverines pushed the lead to as many as 17 in the 2nd half. Martensdale-St. Marys got six three-pointers from Carolyn Amfahr to help keep them in the game. The closed within seven in the 2nd quarter, but were never any closer than 10 down after halftime. Amfahr finished with a team best 23 points for Martensdale-St. Marys, which falls short for the first time since their season opener on November 18th.
