(Atlantic) The Atlantic Parks and Recreation Board held a special meeting this afternoon to appoint members to the Splash Pad Executive Committee and Fundraising Committee.
The Board heard a presentation by Ali Pieken, who was appointed to the Executive Committee. Pieken said she is a passionate community member that really wants a Splash Pad to happen for Atlantic. She spoke about why this Splash Pad project is important to her.
Pieken said some things she would like to see in a Splash Pad include a large center feature, a dump bucket, ground sprays, a water table, water wall and arch, interactive play, two bays – one area for toddlers and one area for bigger kids, shade and seating. She presented some pictures of splash pad renderings to the Board with features she would like to see.
The Board then appointed John Krogman and Jeremy Butler as Chairs of the Fundraising Committee. Board Chairperson Jolene Smith explained the authority of the committees.
The Board will hold their regular meeting on December 19th and they hope to have a report from Snyder & Associates at that time with some tentative Splash Pad concepts.
