(Des Moines) October 2022 in Iowa, going back through 150 years of record keeping, is going down as one of the top twenty driest.
State Climatologist Justin Glisan says the dry month led to an expansion of drought across much of the state.
Glisan says temperatures in southwest Iowa were one degree below normal.
Glisan says the state experienced the first freeze early in the month, but other than that, the month ended with mainly steady temperatures.
