(Avoca) Two undefeated teams, AHSTW and Lynnville-Sully, square off in a Class A quarterfinal football game on Friday night.
AHSTW Head Coach G.G. Harris feels good about re-installing the AHSTW football tradition.
The Vikings defeated Southwest Valley in the round of sixteen last week, 35-14. The Hawks took out Mt. Ayr 62-33. Coach Harris says Lynnville-Sully has a dynamic team led by an athletic offensive and defensive line.
The Hawks are a run-heavy team with 2,163 rushing yards and 846 receiving.
Hawks running back Corder Noun Harder leads the ground attack averaging 13.3 yards per carry, 1,649 yards, and 26 touchdowns.
AHSTW has its weapons. Quarterback Kyle Sternberg completes 66.2 percent of his passes for 1,753 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just one interception. Luke Sternberg averages 11.6 yards per carry for 1,711 yards and 25 touchdowns.
The Viking’s defensive backfield has been outstanding, with 14 interceptions and nine fumble recoveries. Aidan Martin and Nick Denning each have over 100 tackles on the season.
Lynville-Sully has 14 fumble recoveries and 14 interceptions. Kyle Squires and Lane Fisk lead the charge with 70 and 68.5 stops.
