
(Fort Dodge) Ethan Eichhorn of Lewis Central topped the Class 3A Boy’s field at the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday morning in Fort Dodge.
Eichhorn took the lead with less than one mile to go for the win.”I was nervous this morning but knew I would be fine if I could execute the sit and kick.”Eichhorn credits his success to early morning workouts and a lot of miles. “I met with my teammates every day in the summer and worked hard after school. The junior finished 16th, and 13th, at the Class 4A State Meet as a freshman and sophomore and topped the Class 3A Field as a junior in a time of 15:32.43. Bryant Keller of Glenwood finished in 10th, and Mason Back, of Winterset 11th.
Pella topped the 15-team field with 79-points. Winterset scored 141-points and finished fifth, Glenwood sixth with 154. and Lewis Central, 13th, with 277-points.
Besides Keller’s top-ten finish, the other scoring runners for the Rams were; Andrew Smith, 18th; Liam Hayes, 35th, Kevin Coots, 42nd; and Preston Slayman, 50th. Individually, Kellar, 10th, Smith, 23rd, Hays, 49th, Coots ,56th, and Slayman, 66th.
Atlantic Sophomore Devon Fields of Atlantic finished 103, in 18:03.27.
