(Undated) — Hundreds of thousands of dollars in unemployment benefits went to ineligible Iowans during the pandemic. A report from the Iowa State Auditor says these overpayments included nearly 225-thousand dollars paid to people in jail and people who had died. Iowa Workforce Development says the overpayments resulted from an unprecedented number of unemployment claims throughout the pandemic.
