(Area) Volunteer opportunities are available in Iowa’s state parks on Saturday.
The Iowa DNR’s annual statewide volunteer day is September 24th. “We invite Iowans to come out and help us out in these state parks. Iowa’s state parks are great places for Iowans and we greatly appreciate the help volunteers provide.”
DNR Fisheries Biologist Bryan Hayes says Lake Anita will be one state park that is planning an event. “They are looking for ten to twenty volunteers to help with cleanup. They are also going to be mulching around some new trees that they planted. They lost a lot of ash trees to emerald ash borer. They are replacing those trees and will be mulching around them and fencing around them to keep the deer away from them and stuff like that.”
Anyone interested in helping at Lake Anita should gather at 2:00 p.m.
