(Atlantic) The activities at the Cass County Fair wrapped up this past Wednesday with clean-up day. Numerous projects will now compete at the Iowa State Fair, including Cass County Fair Queen Keira Olsen, selected to represent Cass County in a ceremony held on July 28. Part of the ceremony was the recognition of the 2022 Banner Club award-winning Bear Grove Blazers for their excellence in participation.
Kristy and Dave York have served as its leaders for over a decade. York said this recognition focuses on Cass County 4H Club participation at the county level and beyond.
York says the Youth Action Committee created this award. He says all clubs, not just Bear Grove Blazers, have increased participation in numerous activities.
Dave York says a 4H leader can sometimes be a thankless job, but watching the youth learn keeps him going.
4-H is for the youth of all ages. Clover Kids is for kindergarten through 3rd-grade children, and community 4-H clubs are for youth from fourth grade to seniors in high school. Eleven active 4H clubs in Cass County and seven Clover Kids Clubs exist.
