Diana Kay (Christensen) Thornton was born on November 29, 1952 in Oakland, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Betty (Ratashak) Christensen. Diana entered into eternal peace on July 15, 2022 in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 16 days.
Diana’s early years were spent in the community of Oakland where she attended school. She was united in marriage to Daryl Thornton and the couple made their home in Griswold. The couple were blessed with the birth of two sons, Cole and Kelly. Following graduation from Iowa Western Community College with a nursing degree, Diana worked for BNH Hospital, the University of Texas Medical Branch and Spindletop Center in Beaumont until her retirement.
She was active in the Beaumont Pelatan Cycling Club and the Beaumont Geocatchers. She enjoyed camping, crafting, cycling and geocaching. Diana had a zest for life, she was a beloved wife, an incredible mother, supportive grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her memory will forever be cherished in those whose lives she touched.
Preceding her in death were her husband Daryl, sister Pam and parents, Marvin and Betty. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Cole (Heather) Thornton of Shenandoah, IA and Kelly Thornton of Humble, TX; brother Terry Christianson of Shelby, IA; 8 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
An interment of cremated remains will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 10:30 AM, at the Griswold Cemetery. Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold is assisting the family with local arrangements.
